General Information

First and foremost, I have been a team member of founding two international schools. In Saudi Arabia I was a founding team member, Head of Science, IB DP coordinator, Student Year Advisor and teacher mentor with a team of international teachers establishing the International Baccalaureate (IB) at the KAUST School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During my two years in those roles, I was also the first and only male teacher to be permitted to teach Saudi girls unsupervised, a cultural and historical landmark for girls’ education in Saudi Arabia. My success within that founding team led to my appointment as founding Principal in Changchun High School, China. My role was to lead a team of both local and international teachers to establish an IB international school for Chinese students wishing to progress to international universities. Students attended the school in years 10-12, completed a compressed IGCSE over one year followed by either A levels or IB Diploma courses. In my leadership role I established policies, infrastructure, IT, staff training in curriculum and educational philosophy, establish strong parent involvement and support, and transformed traditional Chinese education pedagogy to one of inquiry-based learning. The school successfully gained IB DP certification after one year under my founding leadership.

In my journey as an educator, I have continually sought to improve my own professional knowledge through international conferences, Australian conferences, professional learning seminars and through extensive professional reading. I have been certified as an IB Chemistry teacher and IB Biology teacher, an IB Diploma Coordinator, as an expert mentor teacher thorough Macquarie University. I have been part of action research with The University of New England, ‘Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome’, which now underpins Science standards examination in NSW, Australia. I led a colleague and a team of female students in a project engaging students in STEM with the University of NSW. My pedagogical expertise and leadership in teaching and learning with the use of ICT for learning engagement and inquiry-based learning is exceptional. Most recently, I have mentored staff in best practice to engage students in online learning.

In every role that I have undertaken I am recognized for my passion for learning, unwavering support for ongoing improvement of staff and students, my ability to engage community support and for my calm and resilient nature.

My international experience has provided me with deep understanding and respect for all cultures. My personal

integrity, honesty and energy has provided me with the conduit to cross cultural boundaries and to make lifelong friendships. I am seen as a progressive and supportive leader, prepared to take school communities on a journey of ongoing educational change and to establish a mindset of lifelong learning. I have a total of 22 years of leadership as HoD and Deputy Principal positions and as a founding Principal.
